Overview

ParseForge

Working Nomads Scraper

Scrape remote job listings from Working Nomads by category or tag, up to a million per run. Each listing returns the job title, company, category, tags, location, and posting date. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

Working Nomads curates remote jobs across development, marketing, design, and management, but manually checking the site for new listings is slow. This Actor reads the public job feed directly, filters by category or tag as each listing is read, and returns every match in one flat schema. No API key or browser setup required.

Who uses it What they scrape Working Nomads for
Job seekers Build a personal feed of remote openings matching their exact tech stack.
Recruiters Monitor new remote listings to source candidates for hard-to-fill roles.
Market analysts Track which remote job categories and skills are growing week over week.
Job board operators Aggregate Working Nomads listings into a larger remote-work dataset.

What it does

This Actor collects remote job listings from Working Nomads filtered by category or tag, and returns each one as a flat row.

  • ๐Ÿท๏ธ Filter by tag: narrow results to a specific skill or technology, such as javascript, react, or devops.
  • ๐Ÿ“‚ Filter by category: target a broad job family like Development, Marketing, or Design with a substring match.
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Volume control: set a hard cap from 1 to 1,000,000 listings so runs stay predictable.

Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.

What you can do with Working Nomads data

๐Ÿ” Build a personal job alert feed.

A developer runs the Actor daily with the tag 'python' and maxItems 50, then pushes new listings to a Slack channel so they never miss a relevant remote opening.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Track remote hiring trends.

A market analyst scrapes all Development listings each week, groups them by tag, and reports which skills are gaining or losing demand in the remote market.

๐Ÿข Source candidates for niche roles.

A recruiter filters by the 'devops' tag and scans the company and title fields to find organizations hiring for infrastructure roles, then reaches out to passive candidates.

๐Ÿ—‚๏ธ Power a meta job board.

A job board operator runs the Actor alongside scrapers for other remote boards, de-duplicates the combined feed, and publishes a single searchable index of remote work.

Substring filters Match partial category or tag names so you do not need exact strings.
Predictable runs A hard maxItems cap keeps run duration and data volume under your control.

How it compares

This Actor focuses on fast, filter-driven extraction from Working Nomads with a simple input schema, while other actors bundle multiple boards or offer different filtering approaches.

Configure the run

Drive the Actor with a category substring, a tag substring, and a maximum item count, alone or together, and filters run as each listing is read so only matches reach your dataset. The Input tab lists every parameter.

A first run with the defaults:

{
 "maxItems": 10
}

A larger pull:

{
 "maxItems": 200
}

Pricing

Pay-per-result: $0.021 per result collected. You pay only for the results written to your dataset.

Give an AI agent live access to Working Nomads through the Model Context Protocol. Add the Actor to Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client:

claude mcp add --transport http apify "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=parseforge/workingnomads-scraper"

Then prompt it in plain language to run the scraper and read back the results.

Troubleshooting

Why am I getting no results?

Check that your category or tag substring matches listings on Working Nomads. Try running without any filters first to confirm the site is reachable, then narrow down with a short, common tag like 'javascript'.

The run stopped before reaching my maxItems limit.

The Actor stops when it exhausts the available listings that match your filters. If Working Nomads has fewer matching jobs than your maxItems value, the run ends early. This is expected behavior.

My tag filter is not returning the jobs I expect.

The filter uses a substring match. A tag like 'react' will also match 'react-native'. If you need an exact match, post-process the dataset after the run or try a more specific substring.

The Actor is timing out.

Lower your maxItems value or increase the run timeout in the Actor's advanced settings. Very large runs may need more time, but the Actor is designed to be efficient per listing.

Some fields are empty in the output.

Working Nomads does not always populate every field for every listing. If a company or location is missing from the source, that field will be empty in your dataset.

FAQ

Question Answer
Do I need a Working Nomads account or API key? No. The Actor reads the public job listings directly from the Working Nomads website. No login, API key, or registration is required.
How do I filter by a specific programming language? Use the tag input field. Enter a substring like 'javascript', 'python', or 'react' and the Actor will return only listings whose tags contain that string.
Can I scrape all listings without any filter? Yes. Leave both the category and tag fields empty and set maxItems to the number you want. The Actor will return the most recent listings up to that count.
What does the category filter match against? It performs a case-insensitive substring match against the category name shown on Working Nomads, such as 'Development', 'Marketing', or 'Design'.
How many listings can I collect in one run? You can set maxItems anywhere from 1 to 1,000,000. The Actor stops as soon as it reaches your limit, so runs stay predictable.
What output formats are supported? You can export your dataset to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML directly from the Apify platform, or push it to a cloud storage integration.
Does this Actor handle pagination automatically? Yes. It follows the Working Nomads listing pages automatically until it reaches your maxItems limit or runs out of available listings.
Can I schedule this Actor to run daily? Yes. Use Apify's built-in scheduler to run the Actor on a cron schedule, such as every morning, and have fresh listings waiting in your dataset.
Is the data returned in real time? The Actor reads the live Working Nomads website on each run, so you get the listings that are available at that moment.
Can I combine this with other remote job scrapers? Yes. Many users run this Actor alongside scrapers for other remote job boards and merge the datasets to build a complete remote work feed.
