FBref Soccer Stats Scraper

Scrape FBref soccer stats for any player in a league and season, up to a million records per run. Get goals, assists, expected goals, progressive carries, and advanced metrics in one flat table. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

FBref is the deepest free source for soccer statistics, but copying tables by hand is slow and error-prone. This Actor reads the player stats table for a league and season you choose, from Premier League to Europa League, and returns every row in a consistent schema. No manual downloads, no formatting, the numbers you need.

Who uses it What they scrape FBref for
Fantasy soccer players Compare expected assists and shot-creating actions to find undervalued midfielders before a gameweek.
Data journalists Pull a full season of player stats to build a transfer-market value story or a team-of-the-year interactive.
Scouts and analysts Filter progressive passes and tackles in the attacking third to shortlist fullbacks for a recruitment report.
Academics and students Gather a clean dataset for a sports analytics thesis or a machine learning model that predicts match outcomes.

What it does

This Actor collects FBref player statistics for a selected league and season and returns each player as a flat row with all available standard and advanced metrics.

  • โšฝ League selector: Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Champions League, and Europa League.
  • ๐Ÿ“… Season picker: any season FBref covers, entered as YYYY-YY (e.g. 2024-25).
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Full stat row: standard stats like goals and assists plus advanced metrics like xG, npxG, progressive carries, and pressures.
  • ๐Ÿ“ฆ Flat output: one row per player, ready for CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML export.

Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.

What you can do with FBref data

๐Ÿ“ˆ Build a fantasy football model.

A fantasy player pulls expected goals and shot-creating actions for the 2024-25 Premier League to weight a draft algorithm.

๐Ÿ“ฐ Power a data-driven article.

A journalist scrapes La Liga player stats to rank the most progressive passers and publish a mid-season analysis.

๐Ÿ” Scout undervalued talent.

An analyst collects Bundesliga defensive stats to identify centre-backs with high pressures and successful dribbles faced.

๐ŸŽ“ Feed academic research.

A student gathers five seasons of Serie A data to train a model that predicts player market value from on-ball actions.

Then prompt it in plain language to run the scraper and read back the results.

Troubleshooting

Why am I getting no results?

Check that the season format is exactly YYYY-YY (e.g. 2024-25) and that FBref has data for that league and season. A typo or a future season will return an empty dataset.

The run failed with an error.

First, verify your league and season inputs. If they look correct, the FBref page structure may have changed. Check the Actor log for the failed URL and try again later, or report the issue.

Some columns are missing or empty.

FBref sometimes adds or removes stat columns between seasons. The Actor returns whatever columns are present on the page for that league and season. Missing columns mean FBref did not publish that stat for those players.

The dataset has fewer rows than I expected.

The Actor returns the players listed in the main stats table. Some leagues have multiple tables (e.g. standard stats vs. goalkeeping). The Actor targets the primary player stats table. If you need a different table, check the page URL and adjust your input.

FAQ

Question Answer
Which leagues can I scrape? The Actor supports Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, Champions League, and Europa League. Pick one per run from the league dropdown.
How do I enter the season? Type the season in YYYY-YY format, like 2024-25. The Actor uses that string to build the correct FBref URL for the season you want.
What stats are included? You get every column from the standard player stats table on FBref: goals, assists, minutes, xG, npxG, progressive carries, pressures, and more. The exact columns depend on what FBref publishes for that league and season.
Can I scrape multiple leagues at once? One run scrapes one league and one season. To collect multiple leagues, run the Actor once per league, either manually or by scheduling parallel runs.
Does this include goalkeeper stats? Yes. The Actor returns all players in the table, including goalkeepers, with their specific stats like saves, clean sheets, and PSxG.
Is there a rate limit? The Actor reads FBref politely and respects the site. You can collect up to a million records per run, which covers every player in a league many times over.
What output formats do I get? Your dataset is available in CSV, JSON, Excel, and XML. Choose the format when you export from the Apify dataset tab.
Do I need an FBref account? No. The Actor reads the public pages, so no login, API key, or account is required.
Can I get data from older seasons? Yes. Enter any season FBref has in its archive, like 2017-18. The Actor will fetch the table for that season if it exists on the site.
