Overview

ParseForge

Chewy.com Product Scraper

Scrape Chewy.com product listings by keyword, up to a million per run. Every result includes the price, autoship savings, rating, review count, and stock status. No login or API key. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

Chewy.com has no public product API, so tracking prices, ratings, and autoship deals across thousands of pet supplies means manual browsing or brittle custom scripts. This Actor searches Chewy by keyword, reads every matching product card, and returns a clean dataset you can filter and export in minutes. It handles pagination and rate-limiting so you get consistent results without building a scraper yourself.

Who uses it What they scrape Chewy.com for
Pet brand managers Monitor their own and competitor pricing and ratings on Chewy.
E-commerce analysts Track autoship discount patterns across pet food categories.
Dropshippers and resellers Build a product feed of in-stock Chewy items with current prices.
Pet industry journalists Gather pricing data for market reports on pet supplies.

What it does

This Actor searches Chewy.com by a product keyword and returns each matching product as a flat row with its price, autoship price, rating, review count, and stock status.

  • ๐Ÿ” Keyword search: feed the Actor any product term, from "grain-free dog food" to "cat scratching post".
  • ๐Ÿ“Š Flat row output: every product lands as one row with price, autoship price, rating, review count, and stock status.
  • โšก High throughput: collect up to a million products in a single run, with automatic pagination.
  • ๐Ÿ’พ Multi-format export: download your dataset as CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML directly from Apify.

Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.

What you can do with Chewy.com data

๐Ÿ“ˆ Monitor competitor pricing.

A pet food brand runs the Actor daily for their top 50 keywords and compares Chewy list prices and autoship discounts against their own MAP policies.

๐Ÿ›’ Build a pet supply product feed.

A dropshipper scrapes the "dog toys" category weekly, filters to in-stock items, and loads the latest prices into their store.

๐Ÿ“Š Analyze autoship discount trends.

An analyst collects 10,000 SKUs across cat food brands and calculates the average autoship savings by brand and category.

โญ Track ratings and review velocity.

A brand manager scrapes their own products every Monday to log rating changes and new review counts for their monthly performance report.

Why choose this scraper

What you get
No Chewy API needed Reads the public search pages directly, no registration or API key.
Autoship pricing included See the discounted autoship price next to the regular price for every product.

Fixed schema Every run returns the same fields, so your downstream pipeline stays stable.

How it compares

Two other Chewy scrapers on Apify offer product-page depth or sitemap crawling, while this Actor focuses on fast, high-volume keyword search with a flat output schema.

Configure the run

Drive the Actor with a product keyword and a maximum item count, and it returns every matching product up to that limit. The Input tab lists every parameter.

A first run with the defaults:

{
  "searchTerm": "dog food kibble",
  "maxItems": 10
}

A larger pull:

{
  "searchTerm": "dog food kibble",
  "maxItems": 200
}

Pricing

Pay-per-result: $0.0055 per result collected. You pay only for the results written to your dataset.

Results collected Approximate cost
100 results $0.55
1,000 results $5.50
10,000 results $55.00

New Apify accounts start with $5 in free credit.

Free users

Free-plan runs return up to 10 results as a preview. Upgrade your Apify plan to collect up to 1,000,000 results per run.

Run it

  1. Create a free Apify account with $5 in credit.
  2. Open the Chewy.com Product Scraper.
  3. Set your inputs and any filters, then click Start.
  4. Export the results as CSV, Excel, JSON, or XML from the Dataset tab.

Run it programmatically through the Apify API (run-sync-get-dataset-items) or the ApifyClient for JavaScript and Python.

Use with AI agents (MCP)

Give an AI agent live access to Chewy.com through the Model Context Protocol. Add the Actor to Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client:

claude mcp add --transport http apify "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=parseforge/chewy-com-scraper"

Then prompt it in plain language to run the scraper and read back the results.

Troubleshooting

Why am I getting no results?

Chewy may not carry products matching that exact keyword. Try a shorter or more general term, like "dog food" instead of "grain-free senior small-breed kibble".

The run stopped before reaching my maxItems limit.

Chewy returned fewer search results than your limit. The Actor collects every available match and stops. Try a broader keyword to get more products.

Some products are missing the autoship price.

Not every product on Chewy offers an autoship discount. When the search results page shows no autoship price, that field is left empty in your dataset.

The rating or review count is blank for some products.

Products with no reviews yet will have empty rating and review count fields. This is expected for new or unrated items.

My run timed out.

Large searches with a high maxItems value can take time. Increase the run timeout in your Actor settings, or lower maxItems and run multiple searches.

FAQ

Question Answer
Can I scrape a specific Chewy category or URL instead of a search term? This Actor is built for keyword search. To scrape a category page, pass the category name as your search term. Direct URL input is not supported in this version.
Does it collect product descriptions and images? The Actor returns the data visible on the search results page: price, autoship price, rating, review count, and stock status. Full descriptions and image URLs require a product-page scraper.
How many products can I scrape in one run? You set the maximum with the maxItems field, up to 1,000,000 products. The Actor stops when it hits your limit or runs out of search results.
Is the autoship price always included? Yes, when Chewy shows an autoship discount on the search results page, the Actor captures both the regular price and the autoship price. If no autoship price is displayed, that field will be empty.
Does this Actor handle Chewy's rate limiting? Yes, it manages request timing and retries automatically so your run completes without manual intervention.
Can I run this on a schedule? Yes, you can set up an Apify schedule to run the Actor hourly, daily, or weekly with the same search term and item limit.
What output formats are supported? You can export your dataset as CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML from the Apify run detail page or via the API.
Does it work for Chewy's Canadian site or other regions? This Actor targets the US Chewy.com site. Regional domains are not currently supported.
Can I filter results by brand or price inside the Actor? The Actor returns all search results up to your maxItems limit. Filtering by brand, price range, or rating happens after export, in your spreadsheet or database.
What happens if my search term returns no results? The run completes with an empty dataset. Check your spelling or try a broader keyword.
