Built In Tech Jobs Scraper

Scrape tech job listings from Built In by keyword, location, category, or remote status, up to a million per run. Each listing returns the job title, company, location, description, and required skills. No login or API key. Export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML.

Built In aggregates tech jobs from startups and established companies, but manually searching across cities and categories is slow. This Actor reads the public job feeds directly, filtering by job title, location, category, and remote preference, and returns each match in a consistent, flat schema ready for analysis or your own job board.

Who uses it What they scrape Built In for
Recruiters Build a pipeline of open tech roles at target companies in a specific city.
Job board aggregators Populate a niche job site with fresh, filtered tech listings daily.
Market analysts Track hiring volume and in-demand skills across tech hubs and categories.
Sales professionals Identify growing companies by their recent job postings for outreach.

What it does

This Actor collects tech job listings from Built In by keyword, location, category, or remote filter, and returns each one as a flat row.

  • ๐Ÿ” Keyword search: Filter by job title or skill, such as 'software engineer' or 'data scientist'.
  • ๐Ÿ“ Location targeting: Narrow results to a specific city or state, or leave blank for all locations.
  • ๐Ÿท๏ธ Category filter: Restrict listings to a department like engineering, data, design, or marketing.
  • ๐Ÿก Remote flag: Toggle a checkbox to return only remote-friendly roles.

Results export to CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML, or straight from the API.

What you can do with Built In data

๐Ÿ“Š Monitor hiring trends.

A market analyst runs the Actor weekly for 'data engineer' across the top five tech hubs to count openings and track demanded skills over time.

๐ŸŽฏ Build a targeted lead list.

A salesperson scrapes all 'marketing' roles posted in Austin this month to identify fast-growing startups for their outreach tool.

๐Ÿ’ผ Power a niche job board.

A developer runs the Actor daily for 'remote' and 'design' to keep their curated UX job board populated with fresh listings.

๐Ÿข Map a competitor's growth.

A product manager scrapes all engineering jobs at a specific company to infer which teams are expanding and what tech stack they require.

Configure the run

Drive the Actor with a job keyword, an optional city or state, an optional job category, and a remote-only toggle. Filters are applied as each listing is read so only matches reach your dataset. The Input tab lists every parameter.

A first run with the defaults:

{
 "maxItems": 10
}

A larger pull:

{
 "maxItems": 200
}

Give an AI agent live access to Built In through the Model Context Protocol. Add the Actor to Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client:

claude mcp add --transport http apify "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=parseforge/builtin-tech-jobs-scraper"

Then prompt it in plain language to run the scraper and read back the results.

Troubleshooting

Why am I getting no results?

Check that your keyword, location, and category combination returns listings on the Built In website. Try broadening your search by removing the location or category filter, or using a more common keyword.

The Actor stops before reaching my maxItems limit.

This happens when there are fewer total listings for your search criteria than the maxItems you set. The Actor collects all available matches and then finishes. Try a broader keyword or remove filters to get more results.

Some job listings are missing the description field.

A small number of listings may have truncated or missing descriptions on the source site itself. The Actor returns whatever text is publicly available. If the issue is widespread, try re-running the Actor later.

The Actor is running slowly.

The Actor respects the source website by pacing its requests. If you need faster collection, you can increase the Actor's memory in the run settings, but the primary constraint is polite crawling speed.

I get an error when using a specific category name.

Category names must match Built In's URL slug format. Try using a single word like 'engineering' or 'data' rather than a multi-word phrase. Check the Built In website to see the exact category name used in the URL.

FAQ

Question Answer
Can I scrape jobs for multiple keywords at once? The Actor accepts one keyword per run. To collect jobs for multiple keywords, run the Actor multiple times with different keyword inputs, or use Apify's scheduling to run a sequence.
Does this Actor require a Built In account or API key? No. It reads the publicly available job listing pages, so no login, account, or API key is needed.
How do I filter for jobs in a specific city? Enter the city name in the 'City or state' input field. The Actor will restrict results to listings tagged with that location.
What job categories are available? Common categories include engineering, data, design, marketing, product, and sales. The input accepts any category string that Built In uses.
Can I get only remote jobs? Yes. Check the 'Remote only' box in the input, and the Actor will return only listings marked as remote.
How many job listings can I scrape in one run? You can set the 'Maximum job listings' input up to 1,000,000. The Actor will stop once it reaches that count or exhausts the available listings.
What format is the output data in? The Actor returns data in a flat, tabular schema. You can export your dataset in CSV, JSON, Excel, or XML from the Apify platform.
Does the Actor scrape the full job description? Yes. Each listing includes the full body text of the job description, along with title, company, location, and other metadata.
Can I schedule this Actor to run automatically? Yes. Use Apify's built-in scheduler to run the Actor daily, hourly, or on any custom cron schedule to keep your dataset fresh.
Is it legal to scrape Built In? The Actor accesses only publicly available web pages. You should review Built In's terms of service and ensure your use case complies with them and applicable laws.
